MAINTAINING & ENHANCING YOUR RESULTS OVER TIME

Surgical rejuvenation. Ongoing care.
Beautiful surgical results are the beginning of a longer relationship with your skin. Surgery addresses contour and structural concerns, while ongoing care can support skin texture, tone, and the appearance of expression lines.

At Oculofacial Surgical Arts in San Diego, Beyond Surgery brings together thoughtful non-surgical treatments and medical grade skincare. Your plan reflects your skin, goals, and stage of recovery, with an emphasis on preserving a natural, refreshed appearance.
A Plan That Evolves With You

Your skin and facial tissues continue to change over time. A thoughtful maintenance plan can address new concerns while respecting the features that make you uniquely you.

Together, we consider skin quality, expression lines, sun damage, and your preferences for downtime. Treatment is selected for a clear purpose and timed around your recovery.
Neuromodulators: Soften Expression Lines
Neuromodulators, such as Botox®, can soften dynamic lines caused by repeated facial movement, including crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. A tailored approach helps maintain a rested appearance while respecting your natural expression.

Results develop over several days, and maintenance is commonly considered every 3–4 months. There is usually little procedural downtime, although temporary redness, swelling, or bruising can occur. Your treatment plan and timing after surgery are individualized.

Microneedling: Refine Skin Texture
For fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and selected acne scars, microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that support collagen and elastin production.
A series may be recommended, followed by periodic maintenance. Redness and sensitivity commonly last 1–3 days, depending on intensity. Microneedling can complement surgical results by refining the skin’s surface.
PRP: Support Skin Quality
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) uses concentrated platelets from your own blood to support skin renewal. It may be considered for crepey skin, dullness, fine lines, and selected scars, often alongside microneedling.

Your plan may involve a series of sessions. Downtime depends on how PRP is delivered; injections can cause temporary tenderness, swelling, or bruising. Changes in skin quality develop gradually.
COâ‚‚ Laser Resurfacing: Renew the Surface
COâ‚‚ laser resurfacing addresses concerns such as wrinkles, sun damage, rough texture, and selected acne scars. Treatment removes damaged surface skin and supports deeper collagen remodeling.

Recovery varies with treatment depth and can include redness, swelling, peeling, and sensitivity. Pinkness may persist as the skin heals. Your surgeon will discuss the appropriate intensity, recovery plan, and whether resurfacing can complement your surgical results.

Photofacial: Restore a More Even Tone
Light-based photofacial treatments, such as IPL or BBL, may address sun spots, uneven pigmentation, redness, and small visible vessels in suitable patients.
Temporary redness, mild swelling, or darkening of brown spots can occur; treated pigment may flake away gradually. A series and periodic maintenance may be recommended. Consistent sun protection remains an essential part of your plan.

Medical Grade Skincare: Your Daily Foundation
Daily skincare supports every stage of your aesthetic journey. A personalized routine may include broad-spectrum sun protection, antioxidants, hydrators, retinoids, or targeted products for pigmentation and skin texture.

Introduce active ingredients thoughtfully: some can cause dryness or irritation, and your routine may need adjustment around procedures, pregnancy, or changes in skin tolerance. Explore The Art of Radiance skincare collection and ask our team which products fit your goals and recovery stage.
Beyond Surgery: Your Questions Answered
When can I begin maintenance treatments after surgery?
Wait for your surgeon’s clearance. Timing depends on the procedure, incision healing, skin condition, and treatment being considered. Your recovery plan comes first.

Do non-surgical treatments replace surgery?
They address different concerns. Surgery treats structural changes; skincare, injectables, and skin treatments can complement those improvements by addressing expression lines, texture, and tone.

How often will I need treatment?
There is no single schedule. Botox maintenance is commonly considered every 3–4 months; other treatments may involve a series or occasional sessions. We tailor the plan to your response and goals.

Which treatment is right for my skin?
A consultation considers your skin type, medical history, current products, concerns, and available recovery time. You may benefit from a focused treatment or a gradual combination of options.
